This is a photo I took while my wife and I were visiting Joshua Tree National Park. The photo was OK, but I felt that I could make it better. So, I decided to play with it in Photoshop and some of my favorite filters.
Here is the process that I used to obtain the effect you see below:
- I started with a levels layer to bring the color to a level that I remember.
- I then ran a curves layer to increase the contrast.
- Then I applied the Midnight filter from Nik Software’s Color Efex Pro 3.0.
- Then to remove the noise that was introduced with all the changes I ran Nik Software’s Dfine 2.0 filter.
I may have gone too far but my wife said it look perfect as it is. Please enjoy.
